Her Story

Rooted in Monroe County.

A proud mom of two New York City Police Officers and loving grandmother of a child on the spectrum, Maureen's roots in the area run deep.
Before serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, she built her life and her career right here; as an instructor at both East Stroudsburg University and Northampton Community College, and as a community advocate who understood that real change starts locally.

First elected to the State House, Maureen has spent more than a decade proving that Harrisburg can, and should, work for working people. She fights for fully funded public schools because she knows what it means to be in a classroom. She advocates for seniors because she's sat with families navigating a broken system, and she pushes for workers' rights because she believes in dignity and respect of all labor.

As Chairwoman of the House Aging & Older Adult Services Committee, Maureen leads Pennsylvania's legislative effort to: protect Medicaid, strengthen elder care, and address the Alzheimer's and dementia crisis (even being appointed to the Governor's Advisory Committee on Alzheimer's and Dementia) to bring that fight to the change makers in Harrisburg.

Maureen is a lifelong Democrat who believes the party's job is to deliver results for everyday people, not just talk about it. Over her tenure, she has secured over $50 million in community investments for Monroe County. From clean drinking water to arts and recreation facilities that strengthen the fabric of our neighborhoods.

She shows up throughout the community, not because the cameras are there, but because that's who she is. Maureen Madden is Monroe County's voice in Harrisburg, and she is just getting started.
